Commentary

The object was found in the ruins of a 4th or 3rd century BC house. The fragment is in poor shape and barely legible, so it is not currently possible to determine the script or language. Pellegrini (1981) proposes a Venetic or Etruscan orthography based on the punctuation mark that seems to follow the third letter, suggesting a reading of ?]vas. ri [.
